9JA NEWS: Soyinka's Visit to Benue Postponed

Association of Nigerian Authors, ANA, Benue State Chapter wishes to inform the public that the visit of Nigeria’s Nobel Laureate, Professor Wole Soyinka to Benue, earlier announced, has been postponed.

The postponement which is due to unforeseen circumstance, was duly communicated by the Nobel Laureate to the Benue State Government and the State Chapter of ANA.

The Local Organising Committee for the 2017 International Annual Convention of ANA expresses gratitude to Professor Soyinka for, in the first place,accepting to come to the State for a special reading preparatory to the convention.

It equally appreciates the State Government for putting necessary arrangements in place to host the Nobel Laureate and the five member delegation from the National Secretariat of ANA, Abuja, scheduled to be in the State same time for an assessment tour.

ANA Benue and the Local Organising Committee for the Convention regret the inconvenience caused people far and near, particularly secondary school Students, whose hopes of meeting the Literary Giant have been dashed.

Though Soyinka’s visit has been postponed, the National Officials of ANA, Abuja, led by the President, Mallam Denja Abdullahi will be in the State Tuesday 12th September 2017 to carry out their assignment.
